English Forum
Course Overview:
This termly forum is designed to ensure that English subject leaders and teachers across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 are kept informed of the latest initiatives and understand best practice. Each session will include a training focus as well as an open forum for discussion.

About Pippa Agyemang:
Pippa Agyemang has been working with The Literacy Tree for 6 years. Prior to this, she managed a private 0-5 nursery, taught in several challenging schools, was a Deputy Head and a Local Authority Consultant. Pippa is an experienced Key Stage 1 and 2.

Word Play – getting creative with spelling
Course Overview:
A highly practical half day course, providing teachers with a wealth of exciting ideas, games and approaches to help children become super spellers and accelerate their attainment.

Carolyn is Head of Spelling and Phonics at Warren Road Primary School. Walk into her classroom and you will see her love of developing vocabulary and how she instils this in even the youngest of children. She also has a passion for empowering TAs to reflect on their own practice through thought-provoking training, based on a coaching approach.

Facilitating Outstanding Learning in Phonics
Course Overview:
This is an amazing opportunity to develop your subject knowledge and pedagogical practices, led in an inspiring environment where the school is achieving 95% in the Year 1 Phonics Screening Test (results from 2016-2018). This course is suitable for Teachers and teaching assistants and will provide plenty of practical ideas to implement in the classroom.

NEW – How to inspire Greater Depth in Reading and Writing
Course Overview:
This training day will focus on practical strategies for developing children as independent, confident readers and writers. We will unpick the meaning of ‘greater depth’ in both reading and writing, exploring the requirements of the National Curriculum and assessment frameworks. The course will explore tried and tested techniques that support children in achieving greater depth, contextualising a variety of strategies within schemes of work to support planning and delivery.

About Jamie Thomas:
As well as being an accredited Talk for Writing Trainer, Jamie is Head of Warren Teaching School Alliance, and Deputy Head and Head of Literacy at Warren Road Primary School. As a self-proclaimed ‘Talk for Writing’ and grammar nut, he is passionate about instilling a love of English in people of all ages and thrives on raising standards through inspirational training and development.
